BATTERY COMPARTMENTS - Press Release

OKW have introduced a new range of universal screw-in battery compartments for use on any type plastic enclosures or metal enclosures.

These are particularly useful where an existing enclosure does not have a battery compartment, or where a new enclosure is being specified, but the designer does not want to incur the considerable expense of designing and tooling a battery compartment into the case.

With these new battery compartments, all that is required is a simple rectangular hole in the enclosure wall. The battery compartments can be flush fitted on enclosures with a minimum wall thickness of 3 mm, or can be surface mounted on enclosures with a smaller wall thicknesses, for example on metal enclosures.

Two versions are offered for three or five 1.5V AA cells. This gives better voltage and current performance for displays, components etc., rather than the typical two or four AA cell battery compartments seen on most enclosures.

The battery compartments are moulded in ABS (UL 94 HB) and are available in off-white, black and lava grey. The assembly consists of the battery cradle, pre-fitted with contacts, rear side mounting frame, and clip-on lid which can also be screw fixed.

Two sealing gaskets are also included along with the fixing screws. The nickel plated contacts conform to DIN EN 60601, and are designed to avoid accidental short circuit if the batteries are inserted incorrectly.
