OKW Cookie policy

Last updated: 22.04.2024

In order to make the use of our website as pleasant as possible, whether for a one-off visit or for repeated visits, we save information about your visit in so-called "cookies". Should you restrict the use of cookies in your browser, you will not be able to use all of the interactive functions.

WHAT IS A COOKIE?

A "cookie" is a small text file that saves information, for example about your language settings. It is generated the first time a user visits a website, and is stored on the computer of the user. OKW uses cookies to make the website more user-friendly and more secure. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses.

USE OF COOKIES ON THE OKW WEBSITE

The "session cookie" used by OKW is automatically deleted at the end of your visit. It gives you, as the user, an anonymous session ID while you are surfing on the website, so that the web server can react to your actions.

Cookies also ensure, for example,

  • that any actions you take during your visits (text input, search criteria or collection of products in product baskets) are retained when you navigate between individual pages, and
  • that the user name for your registration with the OKW VIP Lounge is kept ready for you personally.

We also use cookies for anonymous statistical analyses. The information used for this is, for example, the browser type and version, the operating system used, the URL referrer (which pages you have visited), the host name of the accessing computer (IP address), the time of the server request, country of origin, preferred language etc. These data cannot be assigned by us to any specific person.

USE OF "ONETRUST"

We use OneTrust LLC with 2 functions:

  • OptanonConsent, aids in GDPR compliance on the websites.
  • OptanonAlertBoxClosed, this prevents the banner from reappearing on the subsequent page.

This creates 2 cookies. OneTrust is designed to comply with data protection regulations.

USE OF "GOOGLE ANALYTICS"

Data processing for the purpose of anonymous statistical analysis is effected using the Google Analytics tool. The OKW website uses the Google Analytics tracking code, extended by the operator ga('set', 'anonymizeIp', true);, to ensure that only anonymised IP addresses are collected (so-called IP masking).

You can prevent the collection of the data which were generated by the Google cookie and which refer to your use of the website (incl. your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of these data by Google. To do this, download the available browser plug-in using the following link (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en).

You can find the security and data protection principles of Google Analytics at https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en.
