OKW has launched COMMUNITEC, an elegant new range of desktop/portable enclosures for large-format electronics.

These smart modern enclosures are ideal for medical equipment, laboratory instrumentation, test and measurement, automation, fault analysis and quality control.

Ergonomic COMMUNITEC features an integrated handle for easy portability. The front control panel is designed to accommodate 11.5" to 14" touchscreen displays or a membrane keypad. It is inclined at 12° for comfortable operation of the controls. Below this is an additional flat surface for front-mounted operating elements and connectors.

There is ample space on the sides for connectors, ventilation or the attachment of measuring instruments. A recessed area at the rear protects plugs, sockets and cables; it includes a recess for a product label. Non-slip rubber feet (supplied) on the base prevent skidding.

Each enclosure comprises four sections: the main housing, operating panel, handle recess panel and bottom panel – all available as separate components for individual colour combinations. Assembly is with tamperproof Torx screws.

COMMUNITEC offers a high degree of configuration with fastening pillars for PCBs and components in the main housing and operating panel and on the bottom panel. Components can be fitted to the bottom panel outside the housing. This panel can then be mounted in the main housing. There is easy access to already installed electronics via the front or the opening for the handle recess.

These enclosures are moulded in UV-stable ASA+PC (UL 94 V-0) and are available in two sizes: S (283 x 246 x 194 mm) and M (344 x 274 x 219 mm). The standard colours are traffic white (RAL 9016) and anthracite grey (RAL 7016). As a colour contrast, the handle grip panel can also be specified in traffic grey A (RAL 7042) as standard. Custom colours are available on request.

Other customisation services include machining, lacquering, printing, laser marking, decor foils, EMC shielding, and installation/assembly.
